Author Randi Minetor makes birding in New England easy for everyone, first-time birders and experts alike. Join her for the launch of her book, “Birding New England: A Field Guide to the Birds of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont” on Wednesday, May 29 at 7 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library. The guide was created with both the beginner birder, the traveling birder and those looking to identify certain species on their checklists, in mind.
“Birding New England” includes a section on birding technology and features detailed advice on equipment, identification techniques, birding ‘by ear,’ field guides, optics and other essentials. For each bird, there are descriptions of behaviors including feeding, flight, courting and breeding, nesting, and migration, which helps readers not just identify the bird but also know more about what it is doing at the time. Each listing featuresGPS coordinates for up to six locations where the bird can be found. The guide features 320 different species of birds and is illustrated with more than 500 color photos.
Minetor along with her husband and photographer Nic Minetor have collaborated on more than twenty books about hiking, exploring historic cities, America’s national parks, and birds and nature. Their books include “The New England Bird Lover’s Garden” and “Backyard Birding: A Guide to Attracting and Identifying Birds” and they also worked together on eight quick reference guides to the native birds, trees, and wildflowers of New York State, New York City and the Mid-Atlantic States.
This talk is sponsored by First National Bank and First National Wealth Management. Books will be on sale that night courtesy of co-sponsor Sherman’s Books.
