Join master carver Steve Valleau at the Wendell Gilley Museum this summer to learn the basics of bird carving. This 1.5-hour class, suitable for beginners, comes with a kit that includes a bird blank and paints. Tools are available to borrow. Learn the basics of this classic American art form, and leave with something you create in our outdoor classroom. Valleau has been sharing the art of bird carving with students at the Gilley for 38 years. Classes are offered multiple times during the week at either 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Students must be at least 11 years old; those 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Class size is limited to 4. The cost is $35 for non-members or $28 for museum members. See the schedule and sign up at www.wendellgilleymuseum.org.
