No yoga experience necessary, Bala Bee Yoga approaches yoga in a playful age appropriate manner.
Bala Bee Yoga provides children's yoga and mindfulness classes that are age appropriate, engaging, safe, and relaxing. Children will practice yoga through movement, balance, breath, relaxation music, and more. We focus on mindful awareness. Each class session will work on strengthening and stretching the body through playful poses and yoga games. Closing with a mind-body connection and breathing techniques meant to calm and center the young child.
In each class the instructor will lead children in a mindful get to know you game, bring all children together in a centering moment to begin class with guidelines and check in, we will proceed to get our wiggles out with some yoga focused creative movement, re-center with mindfulness & brief meditation, breath work and yoga poses that complement our thematic focus of the day. Each class will conclude with a guided relaxation before our traditional closing.
About the Instructor:
Genevieve M Billings - RYT-200, RCYT
Miss Genevieve is a 200 hour certified Yoga Alliance teacher in the Hatha style. She also holds a certification as a registered children’s yoga teacher. She has provided children's yoga in the local area since 2014 through summer camps, Montessori & Public schools, libraries, outdoor parks, forest yoga, semi private and private classes. Miss Genevieve fell in love with yoga when she herself was five and has practiced many styles over the years.
Miss Genevieve holds a BS in child development and family relations, as well as a Montessori teaching certificate at the primary level. She has served children in various settings for over twenty seven years. Miss Genevieve knew she found her calling in the educational field when leading children to the power of yoga. Her teaching focuses on awareness and nourishing the whole child. Miss Genevieve prioritizes the purposeful pauses that allow the children moments of peace. It is through playful yoga, games and breath work that she observes them settle into their own bodies and find balance.
