Join Rick Fox at Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park this fall for Seeing and Simplifying in a Charged Landscape. “In my experience the idea of ‘seeing’ is exponentially exciting and fluid, but then, paired with the act of translating that experience to a flat surface…with paint…Pandora’s box! I will share influences, personal motivations, and questions that arise during this process of ‘Seeing and Simplifying in a Charged Landscape.” – Rick Fox
During this workshop, each day will be a combination of in-studio problem solving and plein-air landscape painting. The studio work will involve specific and directed limitations in anticipation of some of the core challenges, contradictions, and joys of painting in the open, energized landscape. We will make two paintings each day. The morning studio painting will foreshadow issues of the plein air experience in the afternoon. The afternoon painting will be an opportunity to apply the morning studio work out in direct relationship with the landscape.
