The Jesup Memorial Library is hosting a wide-ranging series of presentations about food – how to grow it, find it, cook it and even make a business out of it. Join Terry Anya Hayes, an herbalist and wild food educator for more than thirty years, on Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. for a talk about foraging and what to do with the wild edibles you can find. Her presentation, “Where the Wild Things Are (And What to Do When You Find Them)" will teach attendees where to find and how to harvest roots, shoots, leaves, flowers and fungi as well as how to add them to meals and use them to relieve some of the minor bumps and bruises of life.
Hayes leads walks, workshops, and foraging weekends throughout the Northeast and beyond. She is a writer, herbalist, wild foods educator and a past president of the New York Mycological Society. For more information on the talks contact the Jesup at 207-288-4245 or mrice@jesuplibrary.org.
