Monday - Wednesday, (Jan. 20, 21, 22), 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM Dive into three exciting days of artistic exploration in this immersive workshop for children, best suited for grades 4 - 8 and up! Perfect for young artists with a passion for creativity and a willingness to focus; this program combines hands-on learning with the freedom to develop individual projects. Each day begins with morning instruction led by ArtWaves founder Liz Cutler, introducing key techniques and creative approaches. Following lunch, students will dive into longer afternoon sessions to complete their morning projects. All materials are included. Please pack a lunch and snacks. No before- or after-care or transportation is provided.
Day 1: Mosaic Students will explore the timeless art of mosaic-making by creating unique compositions with colorful tiles, glass, and found objects. The day begins with an introduction to design principles, safe tile-cutting techniques, and adhesive application. In the afternoon, students will refine and grout their projects, leaving with a completed, textured masterpiece. All materials, including tiles, adhesives, and grouting tools, are provided.
Day 2: Fiber Arts (Felting and Weaving) This day focuses on tactile creativity through fiber arts. Students will learn needle-felting techniques to sculpt wool into small decorative pieces and explore loom weaving to create textured designs with yarn and roving. The morning session includes demonstrations of both techniques, while the afternoon allows for extended project time. Materials include high-quality wool, yarn, looms, and felting needles.
Day 3: Printing (Monoprinting and Gelli Block) Students will dive into the dynamic world of printmaking, starting with monoprinting on gel plates. They will experiment with layering ink, stencils, and textures to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind prints. Afternoon sessions focus on refining their techniques to produce multiple prints to take home. Materials include printing plates, inks, paper, and tools for creating layered designs.Tell a Friend
