• MDI Hospital 2024 Impact Awards Celebrate Community Leaders

    Bar Harbor, Maine – Mount Desert Island Hospital announced the winners of the organization’s 2024 Impact Awards during its annual Community Celebration at the Bar Harbor Club on September 11. The Impact Awards, established in 2020, honor and celebrate community leaders and partners who have made significant contributions to improving the health and wellness in the MDI region.
     
    “These awards recognize individuals and organizations whose dedication, innovation, and collaboration have enhanced the quality of life for our community, promoting a healthier and more vibrant future for all,” said President and CEO Chrissi Maguire.
     
    2024 Impact Award Recipients:
     
    • Healthcare Partner of the Year: Good Shepherd Food Bank, for addressing food insecurity in Hancock County through partnerships and programs that improve access to healthy food.
    • Business Partner of the Year: Kebo Valley Golf Club, recognized for its charitable support, including the annual David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament, which raises over $30,000 for the hospital.
    • Community Partner of the Year: Darron Collins, former President of College of the Atlantic, for his visionary leadership and support of MDI Hospital’s Medical Education program.
    • Volunteers of the Year: Mary Dow and Alberta Willey, honored for their compassionate service to patients at MDI Hospital and Maribeth Payne, recognized for her dedication to residents at Birch Bay Retirement Village.
    • Employees of the Year: Natalee Spencer, recognized by MDI Hospital for her skill and compassion towards patients, and her advocacy to foster an inclusive and supportive environment. Lauren Shirley, recognized by Birch Bay Retirement Village for her warmth and compassion for residents and visitors and for expertly coordinating events.
